Sessions II - VIII are the only ones covered by Volusia County Summer Camp Vouchers. Any Campers who are on the Voucher and stay through Sessions I, IX, & X will be expected to pay full price that week.

 Registration closes June 18 for booking the entire summer.

Individual session(s) can be booked throughout the summer but must be done at least two weeks in advance of the desired session(s) to ensure coverage and supplies.

The Chase Aacdemy students have an option to attend part-time, but it must be a prearranged schedule, at least one week in advance, and must be paid for whether or not the child attends the agreed-upon days. Rate is $25/day.

THERAPEUTIC COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Art Therapy: During Art Therapy campers will express themselves and their emotions by participating in a variety of creative projects. They will also be exposed to activities that they can utilize at home.

Recreation Therapy: Recreation Therapy will allow campers to learn physical activities that can help reduce stress and anxiety. They will also learn team work and appropriate social skills associated with playing games. Campers will learn about the importance of exercise and physical activity.

​

Group Therapy and Mindfulness: During Group Therapy and Mindfulness campers will have the opportunity to share their feelings, concerns, and thoughts about a variety of subjects. They will be guided through the process of how to appropriately cope with stressful situations and will have the opportunity to help their peers work through various situations. Mindfulness, the ability to focus on the present moment while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. Campers will learn strategies and skills for being mindful.

Life Skills: Campers will work on a variety of Life Skills that will allow them to function as independent adults. Skills include, but are not limited to laundry, cleaning, sewing, financial literacy, time management, and navigating the real world.

Cooking & Social Lunch: Everyday campers will create, prep, cook, and share their lunches. Campers will participate in all the components of creating a successful meal such as appropriate food handling processes, cooking skills, setting a table, cleaning up and doing dishes, and table manners.  Once a week, campers will budget and shop for their lunches for the week. Campers will work cooperatively to shop, stay on budget, and look at weekly ads for the best deals.

Self Care: Self Care will teach campers how to take care of themselves in a variety of facets of their lives. They will learn appropriate coping mechanisms for stressful situations, how to make professional appointments, hygiene, and self-advocacy.

Coping Mechanisms: Campers will learn about various coping mechanisms and how to apply them in everyday life. These skills will help them be successful in various realms of their lives such as home, school, and in public situations.

Career Readiness: The purpose of the Career Readiness course is to provide campers with a variety of skills that will help them find a job and be successful in a career. Campers will work on creating resumes, interview skills, job searching, and appropriate work behavior.

Individual Therapy: All campers will work with a therapist once or twice a week on an individual basis. During this time students will be exposed to a variety of therapeutic methods to help them be successful in their everyday lives.

​

Therapeutic Approaches: During their Therapeutic Approaches course, campers will learn about the various therapeutic methods for working through problems. They will study Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, and Talk Therapy. By studying the various types of therapies campers will be able to recognize the processes that impact their thinking and actions and will help them decide which type of therapy will work best for them.

Students up to 17 years old who will be attending approved special needs camps are eligible. Scholarship awards are based on income-eligibility and will be awarded according to funding availability. Applications will be available at All Volusia County public library branches.
